Nina (Juliet Stevenson) cannot move past the fact that the love of her life, Jamie (Alan Rickman), has died. Her grief is so great that, somehow, she manages to make him reappear. Nina is overjoyed and comforted. Life is blissful once again until Jamie invites some friends from "the other side" to join him in Nina's apartment. Now, Nina is forced to remember that life with Jamie was not all that perfect. Can she let him go and move on with her life?
I especially enjoyed the scene with Nina dancing through the apartment accompanied by the music from Jamie's cello. This movie is a keeper!

Oh. Oh. I told you this was way up on my all time favorites, yeh? Seriously this is in my top 2 or 3. I love Alan Rickman anyway and it's so nice to see him not have to be a bad guy :/ and well - there's so much music and talk of languages and....yes, that scene when she dances to his cello tune. Ok and I laugh out loud every time I watch this movie - frequently. Such whole, human, beautifully "ordinary" characters. Thanks for posting this one; I'm wholeheartedly seconding your recommendation.
ReplyDeleteYes, you did write that this was in your top 2 or 3. I have owned the VHS version for years, I would like to buy the DVD, but it is too expensive.
ReplyDeleteThis film, filled with faces that have character is so much better than "Ghost" (of which I am not a fan). Oh, and I just love Alan Rickman's voice!
I have never seen this movie.
ReplyDeleteAnd to make matters worse, Ghost was my first date with Scott and he was so obnoxious about it in the theatre it nearly ended us right there! He kept critiquing...how can a ghost go through the wall of a train and then hit the floor? I thought this movie was going to make me believe....and how come...
and on...and on...
Well, I guess you know what movie you'll be watching on your next visit. And bring Scott...he'll be so busy laughing and enjoying, he won't have time to critique.
