William & Mary

He (Martin Clunes), a funeral director, and she (Julie Graham), a midwife, meet through a dating service. Their courtship endures many of life's ups and downs, but even the most serious situations are handled with a light touch.  A wonderful blend of comedy and drama, this British television series, although it requires a big investment of your time, running about 9 hours, is time well spent.  I was sorry to see it end!

  1. We loved this one, too. Do you know if they ever had any follow up seasons?

  2. To my knowledge, no. Sad isn't it.

  3. I was able to pry this out of your daughter's hands last night...and so it will be my watch of the week one of these nights.

(Ok, ok, she willingly handed it to me...but I don't know the way she struts all tough and scary round here, thought she might want me to keep up her firebreathing image....)

  4. Yes, she is, after all, a DRAGON SLAYER, so let's not tell anyone she has a marshmallow filling.

  5. It's just that I like my roasted marshmallows black as the night on the outside. Extra char. (That's true. Scott finds it a little disturbing.)

  6. Never let it be said that I have raised children without colorful personalities.

  9. Oh, this was SUCH a good recommendation. i fell madly in love with this series -watched every night this week. I loved this on SO many levels - his being an undertaker and her a midwife and the stories and people they meet in those roles not the least of them.

Can´t thank you enough for this recommendation. ( It was made even more enjoyable by the periodically nibbled superbuttery shortbread while watching, by the way...)

There are more seasons, at least a 3rd, but i have yet to find them on a DVD in the US and I suspect the UK ones won´t run here, as Spanish ones won´t. I shall continue my search for Season 3 ....relentless i shall be.

  10. Even if we don't get to see more of this wonderful series, this DVD ends on such a good note that I am content.
